Antigone wants to bury her dead brother Polynices; Creon forbids it.

The resulting brilliance and unbearable splendour of Antigone’s refusal to submit forms the dramatic arc of this Ancient Greek tragedy and provides Lacan (in his Seminar VII on Ethics) a way to articulate the place of unconscious desire, the nature of the death drive and its proximity to jouissance, and true ethical (as opposed to moral) action.

Lacan in Australia invite you to this live Zoom performance/reading of Antigone over two successive Mondays in August (Act I and Act II).

There is no fee, the events will be recorded, and each performance will be followed by an open discussion.

Registrations will open soon!
